Rumpus Room Film - Interactive Film
We made this because we are excited about the future opportunities of creating hybrid filmic environments, where the relationship between its layers, and the layers themselves can be dynamic. The piece combines generative and interactive elements, without ever breaking the illusion that it is a filmic piece.
The piece was shot in our new London office, programmed by our friend Francois Naude in Cape Town SA, directed by Jeff Wood and Wade Shotter and music by Gerald Phillips from Auckland NZ.
Alan Yau - Installation
Tomas Roope has worked with Alan Yau for over 10 years on digital communication for several of his restaurants including Yauatcha, Busaba and Cha Cha Moon. From his days at Tomato up to the present day at The Rumpus Room, he has worked on various projects including several on street menus / signage projects as well as web sites.
We are working on future plans to further extend Alan’s brands into emerging digital environments.
Vodafone Visionarium
The project was to redesign Vodafone’s visitor center, which was the brands platform to promote its newest products and communicate its vision for the future. We developed the space so the demonstrators were able to control the entire experience with their blue tooth enabled phones.
We integrated a wide range of the newest display technologies as well as developing a bespoke interactive installations, and blue tooth controlled product display units.
The project involved collaborating with a wide range of teams that developed the software, electronics, 3d design, print etc.
Reactive Cube - Installation
This is a series of installations made with Graham Plumb and Andrew Allenson. The piece created interactive light extrusions through liquid. There were two versions of the installation. The initial iteration was sound reactive and the second used a camera to allow people to interact with the installation through their movement.
The piece has been exhibited in several galleries in Japan, Singapore and Germany.
Lynx - iPhone Application
Created for Unilever UK Ltd by BBH, the Rumpus Room, Digit and The Mill, Lynx Jingle is Unilever’s first application for the Apple iPhone. Lynx Jingle is also the first expression of the Lynx Effect on the iPhone.
Lynx Jingle is a sexy woman that interacts with the user by either losing, or putting her clothing back on depending on the user interaction, with the iPhone by tilting or by touch. The application is a modern adaptation of the classic pen that features clothing layers coming off when the pen is tilted.
Dell & MTV 2008
Mother Experience & The Rumpus Room developed an experiential strategy to support Dell’s sponsorship of the MTV European Music Awards 2008.
We took a London taxi and converted it into a self-contained blue screen film studio, with a fully automated interactive interface that would take people through creating their own auditions. People were able to personalise their studio environment such as their background design and colour.
